Former football player and administrator Lehlohonolo Lawrence Borotho has acquired Master’s Degree in Olympic Studies from the University of Peloponnese Greece.
Born in Leribe district at ha Mojapela, Borotho played football in his childhood and represented several clubs in the country.
He played for Botha-Bothe Fast XI before moving to Manonyane FC and Lithabaneng Golden FC.
He retired from football few seasons after he joined Golden FC and was appointed as assistant head coach of the club for a period of three years.
In 2012/13, he was voted to serve at A-Division Management Committee(ADMACO) as Public Relations Officer until he quit in 2015.
In 2001 Borotho joined Lesotho Mounted Police Service as footballer, but he failed to get into the first team because of an injury.
“After graduating from Police Training College, I had to join Lesotho Mounted Police Service Football Club, unfortunately I picked knee injury. It was so painful that I had to go for an operation.” Borotho said.
“After recovering from the injury, I got an opportunity to join the team under the mentorship of Mr. Mafa Ribbo Ramakau, unfortunately I did not make it in the first team again because the team manager at that time refused to register me in the system for no apparent reason.”
In 2014 September Borotho applied for the Olympics Studies programme after one of his colleagues informed him about it.
“In a nutshell, I have learned a lot about Olympic Movement, Olympic Games, the history of sports and its birth, sports marketing and Olympic sponsoring and understand the meaning of Olympic Truce in the modern world.” he said
He retired from the LMPS as inspector in 2020.
His assent to the level of inspector was boosted by his excellence at Leseli ka Sepolesa and Informative Newspaper where he was a sport reporter.
