Lioli Football Club player, Thato Sefuli has lodged a complaint against his club at the World’s football governing body (FIFA).
This was confirmed by Lioli FC President Lebohang Thotanyana when he narrated how Sefuli had requested the club to allow him to go to Cape Town in South Africa for First Division club trials. he said upon his return he demanded to terminate his contract.
“Someone who claimed to be his agent called us demanding the termination of the player’s contract because we paid Sefuli half salary.” Thotanyana said, “This is when we disagreed with him because Lioli was merely abiding by laws from FIFA, CAF, LEFA and The Government of Lesotho regarding COVID-19 pandemic,” Thotanyana said.
“Even FIFA advised Associations, clubs and players to discuss this and find solution because COVID-19 has been disrupting the status of football world wide.” he said.
Thotanyana said the club received several correspondents from FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber and are now awaiting decision from them. He said they are not panicking because they have a strong case.
Thato Sefuli refused to comment but his agent cellphone numbers were unavailable.
Sefuli said he is clubless at the moment.
