Lesotho will not be represented in the 2021/2022 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions’ League competition.
This was an a concession between Lesotho Football Association (LEFA) and Premier League Management Committee (PLMC) as both parties agreed not to enroll any club to represent Lesotho in the CAF interclub competitions.
This came after a lengthy debate between premier league clubs and PLMC in July because the league is in progress.
There seemed to be no other option for the association as the government had put on hold all contact sports on the 22nd July due to spike in COVID-19 infections.
The Vodacom Premier League second round fixture had just started when the government restrictions stopped them worsening what was already a difficult situation as CAF had announced 30th July as deadline for registration of clubs.
LEFA and PLMC had to solve this with the sour memories of last season where Matlama launched a protest challenging LEFA’s legality of awarding league championship to Bantu FC while the league was eight matches before completion.
CAF conducted Champions League and Confederation Cup draw for 2021/22 season in Cairo Egypt on Friday 13th August 2021.
