Ministers unite for Region 5 games
The Ministers of Small Businesses, Cooperatives and Marketing (MSBM) and of Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation (MGYSR) signed a memorandum of Understanding where they agreed that Coop College will be used as the nerve Centre during the upcoming Region 5 Games in Maseru.
Chief Thesele ’Maseribane and Mrs Likeleli Tampane signed on behalf of their ministries and pledged to unite on issues of common interest at the games come closer.
Under the agreement the ministries pledged to use the college facilities as the place where officials will convene for official games results and where operations will be dispatched from.
The Minister of MGYSR Mrs Likeleli Tampane thanked both ministries officials for their timely mutual work to see the plan through. She indicated that this MOU has been borne as the outcome of the government’s resolve to use available infrastructure for the games as the building of the stadiums and living quarters were costly and late for construction.
The envisaged games were supposed to be held in December 2019 but were dealt a heavy blow when COVID-19 pandemic swept across the world and they were eventually had to be postponed to 2021 during the leadership of former Minister of Gender, Youth, Sports and Recreation (MGYSR).
