LEFA PRESIDENT RECOMMENDED FOR FIFA ROLE
Maseru, April 10 — Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) President Advocate Salemane Phafane KC has been recommended by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to serve in the Disciplinary Committee of FIFA.
In an interview with LeFA Media Officer, Mr. Mikia Kalati said LeFA congratulates its President and are grateful that he has been considered for a position of such great importance by the World Governing body.
”The LeFA President is not new to serving football at the highest level having previously served two terms as the COSAFA Vice President and also in the Legal Committee of FIFA,” he said.
After previously serving as LeFA Secretary General as well as Vice President of the late LEFA President Mr. Thabo Makakole, Adv Phafane KC was elevated to the position of President of the association following the tragic untimely death of Mr. Makakole in a car accident at the Berea Plateau.
Decisions without grounds are published in a separate and combined document produced by the FIFA Secretariat and new decisions of the committee are uploaded every four months with the latest update being on February 1 this year.
KC Phafane started his football administration career at Bantu FC in the early 80s and worked as the club Secretary General from 1987 until 1994 when he became LeFA Secretary General, a position he held until 2002.
Between 2002 and 2004, he served as LeFA Vice President before he became the President in 2005 to date after being appointed on temporary basis following the death of the late president Makakole.
He also serves as the association’s legal advisor, a position he has held since 1993.
